The committee is charged with helping advance sustainable practices within correctional facilities and is a resource for the ACA sustainable practices accreditation standard. The committee is made up of a wide variety of corrections practitioners, sustainability experts, technology providers, and academics and meets twice per year during ACA conferences. The committee i [...] ]]></description><content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class="paragraph" style="text-align:left;">Dr. George Berghorn has been appointed to a two year term on the American Correctional Association's Clean and Green Committee. The committee is charged with helping advance sustainable practices within correctional facilities and is a resource for the ACA sustainable practices accreditation standard. The committee is made up of a wide variety of corrections practitioners, sustainability experts, technology providers, and academics and meets twice per year during ACA conferences. The committee is currently undertaking a national survey of sustainable practices in corrections and hopes to publish Phase I survey results later this year. We were awarded a contract to conduct research through the Michigan State University Center for Regional Economic Innovation. Our research project is titled, "P3 - Pathways from Prison to Prosperity: A Framework for Training Offenders to be Entrepreneurs in Legacy Cities." We will be working to include sustainability-related practices in this framework as we continue collaborating with&nbsp;GreenPrisons.org.
